April 30, 2014 - Very sad to learn of the death today of Bob Hoskins. I have very happy memories of sharing fun times with him while filming Roger Rabbit. He was a kind and generous man, and a consummate actor. He will be missed by family, friends, and colleagues.

January 16, 2011 - I was saddened tonight to learn of the death of Susannah York, who I worked with in We'll Meet Again. I have very fond memories of that time. It was the first big television series I ever did. She was always kind to me.

                                                                                                  *************************************

January 9, 2011 - I will be appearing (albeit briefly) in a new series called 'Episodes'. It begins tonight in the US on Showtime at 9:30 PM, and tomorrow in the UK on BBC 2 at 9:00 PM. The series stars Matt LeBlanc, Stephen Mangan, and Tamsin Grieg. I am in the opening episode and two others, but I'm not certain which ones. If you get the chance to watch it I hope you enjoy it.

January 4, 2011 - I hope everyone had a good New Year celebration and 2011 is starting well for you. This is just a brief note to let you know that I now have a new guestbook. The company hosting my old one unfortunately has gone belly up, and sadly I've lost all the wonderful messages I've received over the years. I'm hoping that this new guestbook will keep working for a good long while. If you have the time and feel inclined, please sign it, if only to let me know there are still people out there who visit the site. It would be much appreciated.

I hope to get around to finally doing some work on the site over the next few weeks and try to liven it up a bit. When I've made some additions I will post them on this page. I will also knuckle down and send photos to those who have been waiting. I know it's been a long wait. Thank you for your patience.

April 15, 2009 - I know it's dreaded income tax day today, but I actually have some positive news for the first time in a very long time. I now have a new voice-over agent. May 2, 2007 - Two and a half weeks left of the play. It's going well, and I'm enjoying it. I have put some production photos on my THEATER page. Scroll down the page and take a look, if you have the time. Or better yet, if you're in the Leeds area, come and see the play!

I never did get the time to update the rest of the site before I left for rehearsal, but I will when I get back to London.

February 7, 2007 - Today is the beginning of year eight of this site, and I am happy to say there is, at last, some good news. I will be playing Al Lewis in Neil Simon's THE SUNSHINE BOYS at the West Yorkshire Playhouse in Leeds from April 20 to May 19, 2007. Rehearsals begin next month. and I am very pleased to be doing the play with Malcolm Rennie who will be playing Willie Clark. If you are going to be in the area, click on the playhouse link and book a ticket to see the show.

I'm still working on updating the site with the last two series of My Hero, which should be up before I go off to rehearse. More soon.

                                                                                                             ***********************************************

December 31, 2006 - I would like to wish you all a very Happy and Healthy New Year. This past year has, without a doubt, been the worst year of my life, both personally and professionally, and I am glad to see the end of it. I can only hope that the new year will be better. Roll on 2007.

The site will be updated early in the new year. I know I've said it before, but I will do it this time.

                                                                                                              ***********************************************

November 7, 2006 - There are many reasons why this page, and the site haven't been updated recently. The main one being my mother, Elizabeth G. Hirsch passed away on October 13, 2006 at the age of 97. She had me very late in life, and for the most part had enjoyed good health apart from the last few years.  There is now a big gap in my life that will never be filled. Even though I lived many thousands of miles from her, she was my support and my rock. I can't begin to say how much I am missing her. It will be that way forever now, but I'm grateful for the time I had with her, and for the love she gave me. I will keep her spirit alive within me, and carry on, because that is what she would most want me to do. These words cannot really describe how I'm feeling, so I will finish here for now.

I will begin to update the site again soon. To those of you who check this page, thank you for your patience.

July 7, 2006 -  To the victims and families of the atrocity on this day, one year on. You have not been forgotten.

                                                                                                            ************************************************

July 5, 2006 - This year continues to be pretty crappy, but I can now give you some good news. The new series of My Hero will begin to air in the UK on Friday, July 21, at 8:30 PM on BBC 1. There are eight new episodes. I hope you enjoy them. Work continues on updating my site pages, and new photos will be up soon. Really, honestly, they will.

                                                                                                           *************************************************

May 3, 2006 - Oops! An even longer time between updates this time. My apologies to you all again, but it's really been quiet. So quiet in fact, that I'm wondering if I will ever work again. I've had a few emails asking when this page will be updated, so having just returned from the US to visit my family I decided not to leave it any longer.

We have still not been given an official date for the new series of My Hero to air, but for those who have asked, it looks as if it will be some time in the summer. The BBC are responsible for the scheduling, and with the World Cup just around the corner, I'm presuming that they don't want the series to be going out during that time. When they give our producers a date, they will pass it on to me and I will pass it on to you.

As it's so quiet for work, I will start updating the pages on the site, particularly the My Hero pages. I still have series five to do, and I am in possession of series six, but will not be able to put photos from that on the site until the series goes out in the UK. I will prepare it, but it will have to stay with me for a while yet. I'm taking delivery today of a brand new wide screen monitor, which should make working on the site a little easier. I will be able to have two pages up at the same time, which should make the boring bit of putting links on pages easier. At least that's the plan.

So that's it for now. It does please me to see that I have many visitors who come to the site and return, so I hope I can post better news soon.

                                                                                                          ***************************************************

February 7, 2006 - Yet again another long gap between updates, but it's been quiet, so there hasn't been much to say. I've also been very lazy about updating the site itself, and to those of you who have written to ask, there will be some updates soon.

Some have also inquired about the start date for the airing of the new series of My Hero. I do not have an official date as yet, but will post it here as soon as I know.

Today is an anniversary of sorts. This site has now entered it's seventh year. According to one of my trackers, over seventy thousand people have visited in that time. Not much in the general scheme of the internet, I suppose, but not bad for a site that doesn't actually sell anything, and pretty amazing to me. So to all of you who have visited, and to those who have written to me, may I say a very big thank you to you. I hope you continue to enjoy the site for many years to come.

                                                                                                           ****************************************************

December 23, 2005 - It is very early in the morning here in London, and I'm getting ready to leave for the studio to rehearse for our final episode of the latest series which will be recorded tonight. Last week was our 50th episode, which was somewhat of a milestone. We will have a little party after the recording tonight, and say goodbye to another year of the show. So now the only thing for me to do is to wish you all a very Happy Holiday season, whatever you celebrate at this time of year, and a very Happy New Year.

                                                                                                          ****************************************************

December 10, 2005 - I was extremely saddened today to learn of the death of Richard Pryor. It was a fair long while ago that I worked with him, but his genius is still vivid in my memory. The world has lost a brilliant man.

                                                                                                         *****************************************************

November 15, 2005 - Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to meeeee...... Happy Birthday to me! A big thank you to those of you who knew it was today and sent birthday greetings. I'm flattered.

We're on another short break from the series as well, so an extra present for me. Four episodes are now done, and it's going well. More news soon.

                                                                                                         ******************************************************

October 31, 2005 - Two down, six to go. Our studios for both episodes have gone very well. Today is the last day of a short break, and we start back into rehearsal for the third episode tomorrow. Not much else to say at the moment, except Happy Halloween to all.

                                                                                                        *******************************************************

October 20, 2005 - Our first studio recording for the new series went incredibly well. If the studio audience's reaction is anything to go by, they have readily accepted James as the new George/Thermoman. We're all feeling very upbeat about it. Sorry this update is so brief, but I have to get off to rehearsal. More soon.

                                                                                                        *******************************************************

September 18, 2005 - Our studio dates for My Hero have now been set, so for those of you in the UK, or anyone who might be visiting the UK, and want to see a recording, here are the dates:

Tuesday, October 18, 2005
Wednesday, October 26, 2005
Sunday, November 6, 2005
Sunday, November 13, 2005
Friday, December 2, 2005
Friday, December 9, 2005
Friday, December 16, 2005
Friday, December 23, 2005

Please note that these dates are not etched in stone at the moment, and could be subject to change. Also please be aware that I cannot help in getting tickets. They are free, and on a first come, first served basis, but I do not have access to them. More detailed information for tickets can be found at http://www.downthetubes.net/tv/my_hero/index.html.

I am in the US at the moment visiting my family, and will try to update this page again on my return before we start work, or very soon thereafter.

                                                                                                          *********************************************************

September 11, 2005 - For the victims and families of 9/11 and all those affected by Hurricane Katrina.

                                                                                                         **********************************************************

September 5, 2005 - The aftermath of the tragedy in New Orleans and the rest of the Gulf Coast has saddened me beyond words. The federal government of the richest country in the world, and the agencies responsible for the evacuation and rescue of those affected should hang their heads in shame. There is no excuse. I can't say any more than that.

On a more positive note, we have read through five of the eight scripts for the new series, and they are good. We start rehearsals at the beginning of October. I'm looking forward to it, but it seems to pale into insignificance when I think of what is happening in the world right now.

                                                                                                        **********************************************************

August 31, 2005 - Most of you will now be aware of the terrible devastation in Florida and the Gulf Coast brought on by Hurricane Katrina. If you would like to help, please visit this link: http://www.networkforgood.org/topics/animal_environ/hurricanes/?source=YAHOO&cmpgn=NEWS to donate to the organization of your choice.

                                                                                                       ***********************************************************

August 25, 2005 - It is my great pleasure to announce that there will be a sixth series of My Hero! I have known for some time, but needed to wait for our producer's go-ahead to let you know. We are now awaiting the new scripts, and will read through them on September 2. Rehearsal and shooting will begin at the beginning of October. There will be eight new episodes, and will be filled with many surprises, the biggest being that Ardal O'Hanlon will no longer be in the show. He is being replaced by the excellent James Dreyfus. A detailed explanation for the reasons for this can be found on the Down The Tubes website. Here is the link: http://www.downthetubes.net/tv/my_hero/index.html#s6. As I'm so lazy, I thought it would be easier to post that, rather than rehash it twice. I am personally sad to not have Ardal with us anymore, as I consider him a friend as well as a work colleague, but it was his decision, and I wish him nothing but good luck for the future. I'm also looking forward to working with James, and to see the series go in a new direction. It's the kind of show that has the potential to go anywhere it wants to, and I'm excited by the prospect. The rest of the cast remains the same, and I can't wait to see them all again. This has not been a great year for me on a personal level, and the start of a new series of the show can't be anything but positive for me.

As is usual, please do not write to me for tickets to see a recording of the show. You need to write to the BBC for that. By all means, write, but just not for tickets. More news very soon.

                                                                                                      *************************************************************

August 19, 2005 - Sorry to say, there is still no news on the sixth series of My Hero. Many of you have written to ask, so I thought I'd just let you know here. We are still hopeful that a decision will be made soon. To those that have written, thank you for your letters of support.

I received an email yesterday from a fan in Texas by the name of Christopher Wilson. He's a sports writer, and has written a really nice article about me, which I am very flattered by. You can look at it here: http://www.postchronicle.com/news/sports/article_212371.shtml. Many thanks, Christopher. That was a really nice thing to do.

I did an interview a couple of days ago for Granada TV. They are putting together a program of the top 100 family films of all time, and have included Roger Rabbit in the list. The program will air in the UK over the Christmas period. When I get the date I will post it here.

That's about it for now. I hope to have another update here soon.

                                                                                                    **************************************************************

July 7, 2005 - Once again, with shock and sadness, I'm compelled to place another flag. This time for my adopted city and country. My deepest sympathy goes out to the victims and families of the atrocity that occurred in London today. This city has seen heinous acts of terrorism before, and it coped exceptionally well today, considering the circumstances. The emergency services were outstanding, and deserve the utmost praise. There is no way any terrorist will see today as a victory. Not London, nor the British people will ever bow to that.

                                                                                                       ***************************************************************

May 18, 2005 - Two updates in two days! It's only the second time I've done that. A new Baby Herman page is now online. You can go to it here or click on the links on the other Baby Herman pages. The page contains pictures from the three six minute shorts. I may play around with the page a little, but it will basically stay the same. And as they are the shorts, this will be the last Baby Herman page. There just is no more. There are lots of pictures on the page, however, which will take a long time to load, so please be patient. I hope you enjoy it.

The next project will be another My Hero page, but that will take a considerable amount of time. I have to go through all the tapes from series five and find suitable ones to go on the page. So please bear with me, and I'll get the page up as soon as I can. There is still no news of series six. As soon as I hear anything it will go here.

                                                                                                      ****************************************************************

May 17, 2005 - After many months of procrastination I am now working on the site again. A new Baby Herman page will appear soon, and then I will begin working on another My Hero page. I've also recently found a few old photos from my childhood, so I will get them on the site soon too. I know these updates have been few and far between, but that's because there hasn't been anything to tell. This hasn't been a good year for me so far, both personally and professionally. Your emails and support help enormously though, so thank you for that. I'd dearly love to be able to have something good to say, but this will have to do for now.

                                                                                                     ****************************************************************

March 21, 2005 - I seem to be apologizing alot lately, but this time it's not my fault. Apologies to those of you who have not been able to access my site for the last few days. The problem resided with my web host's servers going down after an upgrade. Some upgrade.

Other than that it's been very quiet, but I'm hoping I'll be able to bring you some positive news soon.

                                                                                                    ****************************************************************

March 7, 2005 - My sincere apologies to those of you who check this page for updates. There have been a few problems of a personal nature recently, and I haven't had the time, or the inclination to update either the news page or the site. I will do my best to do so over the next couple of weeks.

For those of you who are interested, there is still no news on a sixth series of MY HERO, but as soon as I know, you will know. As there is nothing else of much interest at the moment, I will keep this update brief. I just wanted to let you know that I'm still here, and haven't forgotten you. More soon.

                                                                                                   ****************************************************************

January 4, 2005 - CORRECTION - It appears as if I have made an enormous blunder. Two days ago I posted on this site that there will be no more MY HERO after the current series which begins this Friday, January 7 on BBC1 at 8:30. THIS IS NOT THE CASE. I have received an email from our producer John Stroud which says "Discussions are ongoing with the BBC about a sixth series, but no decision has been taken yet."

The information I was given was misconstrued, and I apologize unreservedly for erroneously putting it on this page . So for fans of the series, there could be good news yet. When I have factual information concerning the continuation of the series, I will post it here.

                                                                                                 *****************************************************************

January 2, 2005 - First of all, I'd like to wish you all a very Happy New Year. Obviously, as the news has been so sad of late, not so happy for many, and I urge you all to dig into your pockets and send a donation to the victims of the Tsunami in Southern Asia. I'm sure many of you have already, but if you haven't done so yet, please do. Here's a link for you to contribute where you think best:

                                                                                                    *****************************************************************

November 24, 2004 - It's been a very long time since I updated this page, and I've had several mails asking why, so here's my answer: I've just been lazy about it for one, and there hasn't been much to tell for the other. Apart from a radio play that I did several weeks ago for the BBC, work has been pretty thin on the ground. It always slows down for me at this time of year, so I'm not too concerned....yet.

I haven't been completely idle, though. I've just today upgraded the memory on both my laptop and my desktop, and will continue work very soon on the third Baby Herman page. Both computers were running too slowly, as the programs I use for this site take a lot of memory, and it was frustrating me. I am now hopefully up to speed, and it will make the work slightly easier.

For those of you interested in MY HERO news, it's my understanding that the fifth series will begin airing on BBC1 very early in the new year. I will let you know the exact dates as soon as I know.

This idle time has also given me a chance to catch up on replying to autograph requests, and those that are pending will be mailed out tomorrow.

Apologies again for the lack of updates. I will try not to leave it so long next time.

September 16, 2004 - At last! After many months of promising, and many months of procrastination, a new MY HERO page is finally up on the site. It is photos from every episode of series four, and you can look at it here. There are also links to it on my other pages, but as you're here, you can take a look. I've been very selective about the photos, and because of the time it takes to load the page, I've limited each episode to six photos. So if you do visit the page, please be patient. As usual, feedback as to what you think of it are welcome, and also as usual, another thank you to Alisha Mobley for her help in preparing the thumbnail and full sized images for me.

I'm off to the U.S. very soon to visit my family and take a little break, but I will also be working on a new Baby Herman page, which I hope to get on the site when I return. So as this will be the last update until I get back, thank you for visiting the site, and thank you for all your wonderful emails and comments in my guestbook. All fan mail requests for photos that are pending will be taken care of before I leave, and I will take some photos with me so I can reply to any requests that may come while I'm away. I will update this page when I return. See you soon.

September 11, 2004 - Three years have passed, but I have not forgotten. I doubt that I ever will. I mark this day on this page to pay my respects to the victims and families of that tragic day. I have used the picture below before, but the feeling remains the same. How could it not? I've never been very good with my own words. That's why I do what I do. This comes from the depths of my heart. It's the only way I know to express how I feel.

 Peace to all

                     **********************************************************************

August 21, 2004 - Whew! After much laborious and tedious work, all the pages that have a lot of photos on them (which is most of them), are now in thumbnail form, and up on the site. Just click on a photo to enlarge it. It has taken me five days. Not just an hour or two a day, but about ten to twelve, give or take an hour or two. I'm sure if I were more tech savvy it would have been quicker, but it's done now, and I think the results are good.  The pages still take time to load, so your patience will still be tested. If the thumbnails were smaller, you wouldn't be able to see what the photo was, so there wasn't much point in doing that. The only other alternative would to be to have more pages with less photos. There are at least two more new pages to come, which is my next project, so I don't think that would be much good either. As per usual, I would welcome your feedback as to how to make the site better, either by email or by signing my guestbook. Or if you find any broken links, please let me know.

You will also notice that there are new buttons to click on to get to the pages, which I really like. These were also done by Alisha Mobley, who has been an invaluable help.

Work will begin next week on a new MY HERO page, which will have photos from the fourth series, and a new Baby Herman page, which will have photos from the six minute short cartoons. That's next week. Now, I'm going to go to the pub for a beer....or two....or three.

                            *************************************************************************

August 16, 2004 - I was looking at the tracker on my website yesterday. You may have seen it at the bottom of each page. To put your minds at rest, it's not anything sinister. It doesn't tell me anything about a specific person. It just tells me how many visits to my site their have been, how many pages have been visited, how long people stay on the site, and how they found the site in the first place. It did show me something that dismayed me, though. After following a link to one visitor, to see what search engines have this site listed, I noticed that a photo I had sent to someone is now being auctioned on eBay. The particular photo is not personalized. It just says "Best Wishes from Baby Herman" and is signed. I have sent many photos to people who have written to me asking for photos to be auctioned at charity events, which I'm happy to do. I can't personalize those photos for obvious reasons. I don't know who the person is who is buying it at the auction. What saddens me is that either the person I sent it to at the charity (or the person who said he/she was from a charity), or the person who has bought it, is trying to make money off the photo on eBay. I send photos to fans for free. I don't charge people for them. It costs me money to send them, but I don't mind that. It was my choice to create a presence on the net. If you want a signed photo, just write and ask. I'll send you one FOR FREE, and I'll personalize it to you! I'm flattered that people still want to know about Baby Herman after all these years. I'm proud of the work I do, and that the characters I play bring enjoyment to people. What I don't like is people trying to make money off my back. I know I can't prevent this from happening, but it makes me sad to think that someone is trying to make a quick buck off of something I have sent in good faith. I've said my piece. The rant is over. I will just have to be more careful in future to check that the request for a photo for charity is bona fide.

On a lighter note, work begins today to change all the photos on the site into thumbnail images. The thumbnails, and all the images they enlarge to have now been done by Alisha Mobley, which I am indebted to her for. After much trial and tribulation last night, we tested one photo, and it all works. The task of changing all the images on the site, and linking them to the larger images is now down to me. It will probably take several days to get the site converted in full, so I will crack on with it. It will be obvious when they're done, but I'll post here when they are anyway. There are several other minor changes to come as well, and a couple of new pages, which I will begin to do once this project is complete.

                                *************************************************************************

August 9, 2004 - Well, the fifth series of MY HERO is now finished. We had our wrap party on Saturday night after we finished in the studio, and I've just about recovered. It was fun, but sad to say goodbye to everyone again.

I will now begin to do some work on the site, which will probably take a few weeks. I hope to get some new pages up by the end of the month. I have no excuses not to do it. I will post it here when the pages are up. I will also clear the backlog of mail to be replied to, which will begin soon.

                                                                                                          *************************************************************************

July 27, 2004 - I didn't realize that it's been three weeks since the last update, so I thought I'd better put a little something here. I've been reasonably busy at work, but today is a day off. Tomorrow we begin rehearsal on the next to last episode of MY HERO for this year. It looks as if this series will not air until January, 2005. But the good news (for us at least), is that the fourth series begins repeats tonight on BBC 1 at 7 PM.

A new look is coming to the site very soon. It's nothing too drastic. Just something to make it easier for people on dial-up to view the pages. All the pictures on all my pages will be in thumbnail form, which should make the pages load faster. You will be able to click on individual pictures to enlarge them, if you want to. This will be done over the next few weeks, and I'm very pleased to say that I'm getting some help to do it. A very talented graphic artist by the name of Allie Mobley, has kindly offered her services to me. Take a look at her link which is  here. I really don't think I could get this done without her, so I would like to say a big thank you to her.

I'm intending to spend part of this afternoon replying to photo requests, so anyone who has written recently should be receiving their photos soon. It would be a great help to me if more people would accept the photos by email. I understand that some people don't have photo quality printers, but it's easy enough to be able to forward the mail to someone who does. The photos are exactly the same as "the real thing", and they are always personalized. It just makes life a little easier for me to send them that way. More news soon.

                      ***************************************

July 6, 2004 - We're now back in rehearsal, and have started on the last five episodes. I had a big 4th of July barbecue on Sunday. It was great fun. My house looked like a tornado had been through it afterwards, but everything is back to normal now. A big thank you to my friend Eileen for all her help, and thanks to everyone who came along to make it such a good day.

I had said that I was going to do some work on the site during the break, but this wasn't possible, as my laptop was away for repair. It finally arrived back yesterday, but as I've started back to work now, the updates to the site will have to wait until the series finishes. I was able to clear the backlog of mail to respond to, but more have now come, so there's a backlog again. If everything has been fixed on the laptop, I will try to email photos to those who have requested them. If things aren't working as they should, they'll have to go via snail mail, which will take longer. I'll update this page again as soon as I have some more news worth putting here.

                       ***************************************

June 24, 2004 - We are on our week's break, and I have now taken care of all the photo requests. They will be mailed out today, except for two which are special requests. I haven't been able to get those done yet. Those of you who have recently mailed requests will say "gosh, isn't he quick and efficient". Those of you who asked for photos a while back will say "gosh, wasn't he slow as molasses". Unfortunately, my laptop is in for repair yet again, and this slowed the process down. I would have been able to send most of them via email, but it just wasn't possible. Having my laptop not working has also hindered my plans to update the site. I'm going to try to get something done over the next few days using my home computer, but I can't guarantee it. It may just have to wait until we finish the series.

With reference to my previous posting, the recording schedule has only been changed for the recording of the final episode, which will now be on Saturday, August 7th instead of the 8th. The rest of the recording dates remain the same as the posting below on April 9th. More soon.

                         **************************************

June 15, 2004 - It's been a while since my last update, so I thought I'd throw in a brief one. I've been fairly busy with work. We've begun rehearsals for the fifth episode of MY HERO today. Nearly half way through now, and the time has gone by quickly. We have a week's break next week before we begin the second block of five. I've decided to just vegetate at home for that week and catch up on things that need to get taken care of, specifically all the requests for photos which are still waiting to be sent. I'm sorry some of you have had to wait, but there just hasn't been time.

On a separate note, if any of you have been thinking about coming to see a recording, please make note that our schedule has changed slightly, and the studio days for some recordings of the last five is going to change. I will be getting confirmation of the dates by the end of this week, and will update this page when I do. That's it for now. Another update very soon.

                          **************************************

May 22, 2004 - Well, all the new banners are now done. Whew! At least they are for now. I'm happy with most of them, but I think some probably need a little tweaking. To those that have written to say that they like them, thank you for your input. It's very much appreciated. The more feedback I get, the better. Now the task of getting a few new pages onto the site begins, but that may not happen for a while. I'm not certain when I will have the time. It will have to happen gradually, but I won't put the pages up until they are done. Unfortunately, my laptop has had to go back in for repair again, which has disappointed and annoyed me, but there was nothing I could do. I'm hoping it won't be gone for too long, and that it will finally be fixed. The problems I've been having shouldn't be happening on a brand new machine.

On a lighter note, the first episode of the new series of MY HERO was recorded on Thursday. It all went well. We've had a couple of days off, which has given me the chance to finish the banners, and so it's back into rehearsal tomorrow for the second episode. This one looks like it will be fun to do. This will be a busy week, and I don't know when I'll get the chance to update again, but I will as soon as I can.

                          **************************************

May 18, 2004 - As I've been going on about it so much on this page, I've decided to use this page as a test for my new banners. If this update stays online, it means that it's working, at least on my computer. If you can't see it, please let me know. It would also be a help to me if I had some feedback about it. Let me know if you like it.

                         **************************************

May 17, 2004 - This is unusual for me. Three updates in less than three weeks! I'm getting better at this, but I can't guarantee it will last.

Anyway, here's what's happening at the moment. We are now rehearsing for the first recording date for series five of MY HERO, which will be this coming Thursday, May 20. The recording dates for the rest of the series are below in the April 9th update. It's nice to be back at work with all my friends. I've missed them.

I've now caught up with all the requests for photos, and they are in the mail as of today. Those of you in the U.K. and Europe should receive them in a couple of days. Those in the U.S. may take a few days longer. And to those of you who requested photos to arrive for their birthdays, I'm sorry they're late. I'm still determined to go ahead with my plan for sending photos via email. It's just so much easier for me, and would take far less time. I will still, of course send photos by snail mail if you don't have a good enough printer, but an email photo will have to do for the next few months.

I'm admitting defeat with the software for my new banner headings. There doesn't seem to be a way to do the same animation for each page with this particular bit of software. So each page will have a different animation at the top. I'm hoping to be able to upload them this weekend. I don't think I'll have the time before then. It will be very obvious when they do go on the pages, but I will also update this page and let you know. Also, a big thank you to Hannah from Hanmade for her very kind offer to help.

                             **************************************

May 12, 2004 - Ah, me and technology. We just don't get along. My plans for updating the site have yet again been put on hold. I'm beginning to sound like a broken record. This time it's problems with the software I'm trying to use to change the banner headings on the pages. I wanted to use the same animation for all the pages, but it doesn't look as if I'm going to be able to. At least I don't think I can unless the software vendor comes up with a solution for me. This problem has consumed me for the last few days, and has put all the other plans I had further back. Rehearsal for MY HERO begins tomorrow, so I'll only be able to do what I wanted to do on the site on my days off. It's also prevented me from getting to my mail to send out the photos that need to be sent. They will get done this weekend as a priority. I know some of you have been waiting for some time, and I'm sorry for that. Once I get them done, I will try to do my updates, but it's going to take me some time. There just doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day right now. I hope to be able to update this page with more positive news soon.

                                  **************************************

May 3, 2004 - I'm now back in London again, to start work on the fifth series of MY HERO. Filming begins today for the exterior scenes for the first five episodes, but I don't actually start until tomorrow. I've been back for a few days, and came back with the intention of doing some work on the site, but unfortunately got sidetracked because of more problems with my laptop. Those problems have now (I think) been corrected, and I will make an attempt to do some work on here beginning in a few days. I'm not sure how far I'll get, but I know that one of the first things I'm going to do is change the title banners on each page to jazz them up a bit. I'm going to use a Flash banner, so if you don't have Macromedia Flash on your computer, you can get it free with this link:

Most people already have it on their computers, as a lot of sites use it, but I thought I'd provide a link in case you don't. I will put this link on all my pages, and as I've said, it's free.

I've yet again fallen behind in replying to requests for photos, but I will get them done over the next few days. Any that need to be mailed will not go out until the end of the week, so I again ask for your patience. I would have done them today, but it's a bank holiday in England, and the post office is closed. I've also received a few emails from people requesting photos that I know I've already sent. It's possible some may have become lost in the mail, so if you have requested a photo and haven't received it, please let me know. This is also one of the reasons why I would prefer to send them by email. Not only is it easier for me, but there's more chance of you receiving it. So if you write to request a photo, please let me know if it would be okay for me to send it to you via email. They will be personalized.

Thank you to all of you who have signed my Guestbook recently. Your comments really warm my heart, and they are much appreciated. I wish more of you would sign. It cheers me up.

That's it for now. Much more soon.

                         ***************************************

April 9, 2004 - Two updates in two days! Whatever next? Well, lots actually. Here are the recording dates for the next series of MY HERO:

Thursday, May 20, 2004; Friday, May 28; Saturday, June 5; Saturday, June 12; Sunday, June 20; Friday, July 9; Saturday, July 17; Saturday, July 24; Sunday, August 1; and Sunday, August 8.

Please do not write to me for tickets if you are interested in seeing a recording. I cannot help. More information about getting tickets can be found on the excellent DOWN THE TUBES site. There are phone numbers and an email address you can write to. Alternatively, you can also contact the BBC.

As I said in my previous update, I've finished off sending out all the pending photo requests. I'm flattered to have received so many recently, but I have now decided to reply to the requests differently. As some of you may know from reading these updates, I've recently bought a laptop. It's actually more than just your ordinary laptop, it's a tablet PC, and I can actually write with a digital pen with it. My handwriting is atrocious, as those of you who have had photos will have noticed, but it's a great little tool for signing autographed photos. Signing photos, and writing out the addresses on envelopes is very time consuming, and mailing them is extremely costly. So from now on, if you send an email request for a photo, it will be sent to you via email in an attachment. They will still, as usual, be personalized. That's easy to do. It also makes it much easier for me, as I will be able to send them from wherever I am, and not have to worry about if I have enough photos or envelopes or stamps. You can either keep them on your computers, or print them (everyone has a printer, don't they?). If a real photo is a must, or you don't have a printer, I will oblige, but I would prefer to send them by email. I hope you understand.

                      ***************************************

April 8, 2004 - Okay. I'm back in London, albeit briefly. I'm off to the U.S. soon to visit my family for a few weeks before the start of MY HERO. I've now done the photos for everyone who has requested one, and they will be mailed out today. Some of you may even get them twice. I've got a little muddled about who I've sent photos to, and who I haven't. This is because I received some on my laptop while I was in Nottingham, and the laptop unfortunately has had to go back for repair, which has been very annoying. I won't bore you with the details of that saga. So if you've received a photo before, you may very well get another one. And if you've requested a photo and haven't received it, please accept my apologies, and do write again. The photos being mailed out today may take a little longer to reach you, as it's coming up to Easter, so please wait a week or so before requesting another.

There will be one more update before I go to let you all know the recording dates for the next series of MY HERO. I don't have them to hand at the moment, so I'll have to update again. That will be in the next day or so.

                    ***************************************

March 31, 2004 - This will be just a quick update. It's the last week of the play. I've enjoyed it, but will be glad to see the end now. Our houses have been disappointingly small, which is a shame, as our reviews have been good. I will miss the people I've been working with.

We read through the first six episodes of MY HERO this past Monday, and that went well. We start again on May 2. I don't have the studio recording dates yet, but as soon as I do, they will go on this page.

I've also been remiss in sending out photo requests. There just never seems to be enough time to sit down to do them. I will get them done at the beginning of next week once I'm home again. So to all of you who are waiting, thanks for your patience.

                    ***************************************

March 22, 2004 - Well, here we go again. A much longer gap to the update than anticipated, but it couldn't be helped. The play is now up and running, and I think it's all going well. The first couple of previews and the press night were scary, particularly for me as I haven't been on the stage for two and a half years, but that's now over and done with. In fact, there are now only two more weeks of performances. We don't play on Mondays, which is a great help, and I'm in London again at the moment. As I write this, my printer is busily working, and I will do my best to get all of your photo requests sent as soon as I can. It may take a few days to get them done, so please be patient. I promise I will respond to them all.

On a different note, our first meeting for the next series of MY HERO will take place next Monday. We will read through the new scripts. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again. More soon.

                     ****************************************

March 6, 2004 - I know, I know. I haven't updated this page for some time now, and I can tell by my tracker that many of you check this page. I've been pretty busy with rehearsal for the play, and just haven't had the time. I'm in London for the weekend to catch up with my snail mail, and other domestic chores. It's also nice to be able to sleep in my own bed. Our production week begins on Monday for DOUBLE INDEMNITY, and our first preview will be on Friday, March 12. If any of you are in the Nottingham area, come and see the play. Once it's up and running, I will have more time to update this page, which I can do now on my laptop. I can't guarantee how often I will do it, mainly because I'm lazy, but I'll let you know how it's all going. I should also have some more news about the start of MY HERO soon, which we will begin in May.

                    ****************************************

February 11,2004 - Okay. Here's the test. This is a special message to someone who has been a rock for me the last few days. I just wanted to say thank you.

                    ****************************************

February 11, 2004 - Firstly, I would like to thank everyone who has written to me recently. Your mails warm my spirit. I think I've now caught up with all my replies, and photos have been sent to everyone who requested one. At least I hope I have. I will do my best to reply to anyone who writes while I'm away doing my play, but it may be a while before I can find the time to send any more photos out, so please be patient. I would also like to request that if you do write to me, please do not send it with a "Hi", or "Hello" in the subject line. There are some very nasty mails going around with viruses attached with those subject lines. If you send one like that, I will have no choice but to bounce it back and delete the message.

My new laptop is now being more cooperative, so I'm hoping to be able to update this page while I'm on the road. I will most likely do a little test with it before I leave just to make sure.

                     ****************************************

February 5, 2004 - This will be a quick update. I have much to do, and not enough time to do it. I've now got my new laptop, which is really nice, but it will take me months to learn how to use it. Some of the software I'm trying to run doesn't seem to be behaving the way it's supposed to, which is disappointing. That is taking up most of my time at the moment. Me and technology, we don't get along very well. As a result of that, I don't think I will have time to finish the new MY HERO page at any point soon. I'm going off in about ten days to start rehearsals for a play at Nottingham Playhouse. I'm going to be doing the stage version of DOUBLE INDEMNITY. The play will run from Friday March 12, through Saturday April 3. If you're in the Nottingham area, come along and see it. You can check performance times and book tickets on the Playhouse site, which I've put a link to above. So it's off back to work on the laptop now, so I can try to update this page while I'm on the road.

                  ****************************************

January 28, 2004 - A huge apology to everyone who has been visiting this page looking for updates. I have had to spend a considerable amount of time in the U.S. because of personal reasons, and do not have access to my site over there, at least for the time being. I am, however, about to purchase my first laptop, and will be able to work on the site wherever I am. In particular, this page, so I can keep you updated more often. There is much work to do that has been put on the back burner for some time, but I will do my utmost to get at least some of it done within the next few weeks. I am then going off to do a play, which I will update you on in a few days. To everyone who has requested photos, rest assured that they will be mailed to you within the week. If anyone is having problems downloading particular pages, or getting broken links anywhere on the site, please let me know. More very soon, I hope.

              ****************************************

December 6, 2003 - My plans for getting a new page up before the end of this year have unfortunately had to be put on hold. It's taken me until today to figure out how to use the software to get stills on the page. The process has become, for reasons I won't bore you with, lengthier than the way I used to do it. It will take me some time to get the pictures I want for the page done right, and that's something I don't have at the moment. I'm off to the U.S. again in a couple of days, and there's just too much to do before I leave. I don't want to throw a page on the site that looks sloppy. So apologies for that, and I will get the page up when I return.

I would like to wish you all a very happy holiday. See you in the New Year.

               ***************************************

December 3, 2003 - To say that these last two weeks have been a technical nightmare for me would be an understatement. Apart from a few little tweaks that still need to be done, and a bit of hardware still left to install, things are finally settling down. To complicate matters even more than they were, I also made a decision to move my site to a new host, which so far has been a very positive move. I had been mulling over the idea for a long time, mainly because there had been a total lack of technical support from my previous host. When this recent problem reared it's ugly head, and my former host never replied to my request for help, it made me begin to worry. They had removed their telephone number from their site, and it started me thinking that they weren't going to be around for much longer. I certainly didn't want to wait around for that to happen. I'm now happy to say that I have found what I think to be a very competent and professional website hosting company. I'm not in the habit of giving companies plugs, but I will make an exception this time. I would like to express my thanks to EPHGROUP.COM and in particular, Dave Carrera, for his patience and expertise in getting my site transferred and up and running again. My technical skills are limited, and he helped me through all the tricky bits. So many thanks, and I hope the relationship continues for a long time. I don't want to have to go through this again.

If I am able to install the hardware I use to capture stills today, I will begin to work on a new MY HERO page either today or tomorrow at the latest. I would like to get the page up soon, as I'm off to the U.S. again shortly. I may not be able to finish it entirely, but I would like to get something new up for you to look at. So bear with me, and I will post again here in the next few days with, hopefully, a new page for you to go to.

           ***************************************

November 24, 2003 - As it turned out, the last update didn't go online until very late last night. It's taken me a long time to get all this sorted out, and there were a few disasters along the way that I wouldn't wish on anyone. There's still a great deal of work to be done to get back to some sense of normality, but my main concern has been that I could access my site and get my mail. I now have to get my hardware working again so I can begin to work on the site. It also appears as if I've lost a couple of software applications that I use, so they have to go back on too. When all that is done, I will begin to work on the new MY HERO page, which will hopefully begin in a couple of days. I will do my best to get the page online within the next two weeks, and will post it here when it's up. I've had a few emails asking about it, so thanks for your patience.

         ****************************************

November 23, 2003 - This is just a test to see if everything is working again. It's been a nightmare week. I'll update this again a little later today.

       *****************************************

November 17, 2003 - I know it's unusual for me to update this page twice in a week, but the urgency is to let you know that I may be offline for a while. I have a major problem with my computer and have to install a new hard drive. The one that's in at the moment could fail at any time. I now have to back up all my data, including this site as quickly as possible. It will take me some time to get everything back on the new hard drive, so my plan of putting new photos up will have to wait until that's done. So it's to off to work before I lose everything. Hopefully the down time won't be too long.

       *****************************************

November 10, 2003 - I've just returned from a trip to the U.S., hence the lack of additions to this page. I guess I'll never be any good at updating this as often as I should. I do have a fair amount to update, so here goes. Firstly, we have been given tentative dates for the start of the fifth series of MY HERO. At the moment, the dates are roughly May to August, 2004. Actual studio recording dates have not been confirmed. When I get them, I will post them on this page for anyone who might want to come see a recording. Tickets for recordings come from the BBC, not me, so I'm afraid I can't help anyone with that. Secondly, there is now an official MY HERO website. It's www.myhero.org.uk I will also put the link on my links page. In addition to that, I am going to begin work this week on a new MY HERO page on this site, which will include photos from the last series. I will post an update when the page is online.

I'm doing a re-shoot day on THUNDERBIRDS sometime this week. I can't honestly tell you why, but it will be fun to do a little more on the film. I have heard from a reliable authority that the film is scheduled for release in the spring of next year. That's all I can tell you for now. If I get any more information, I'll put it here.

That's it for now, except to say that it's my birthday this coming Saturday.  More updates soon.

      ******************************************

September 16, 2003 - I failed to mention that I am at the moment appearing (albeit briefly) in a mini-series on BBC Two called THE KEY, which I filmed over a year ago, and which is why it went out of my head. Part one was aired this evening, and the next two will be aired on Tuesday nights at 9 PM. If my memory serves me, most of my scenes are in the third episode.

      ******************************************

September 11, 2003 - My thoughts today are with the victims and families of the tragic events that took place two years ago. I just wanted to mark it here. I have not forgotten.

September 9, 2003 - Some very good news. It is my pleasure to announce that there will be a fifth series of MY HERO. The BBC has begun negotiations with our producers, Big Bear Films, for ten more episodes. Production will begin in 2004. I've known about this for a few weeks, but was awaiting permission to post it on the site. As soon as more information is available about recording dates I will post it here.

*******************************************

August 21, 2003 - It's still been pretty quiet on the work front, and I haven't much to report, but I thought I'd update the page as it's been a while since I did. The fourth series of MY HERO is up and running in the U.K. Two episodes have been aired, and the reaction has been good. There will be an official MY HERO website up in the near future, but I won't put the link up until it's actually on the web. I will also be doing another page which will have photos from the fourth series, but I'll wait a few weeks until more of the episodes have been aired.

I've also recently finished working on a pilot for a new comedy series. If it gets commissioned, I will let you know. There's not much I can tell you for now, except that if it gets the go-ahead, it will be produced by Granada TV for the ITV network. More news soon.

  *******************************************

July 10, 2003 - Apologies for the lack of updates recently. There have been some personal reasons, which I will not go into, and not a great deal has been happening for me to write about. Today there is. Firstly, on a very sad note, I must report the death of one of my very close friends and wonderful actor, James Saxon, who died on July 2, 2003. I went to his funeral yesterday, which was attended by his friends and family. His untimely death at the age of 48 was a shock to us all, and he will be sadly missed.

On a much lighter note, I can now tell you that the fourth series of MY HERO will begin to air on Friday, August 8th, 2003 at 8:30PM on BBC1. This date may be subject to change, as the BBC had first said the 15th, so check your local listings. More news when I have some.

  *******************************************

April 19, 2003 - I've noticed that alot of people visit this page, and I apologize for not updating it as often as I should. Sometimes it's out of pure laziness, sometimes it's because I don't think it's worth putting little bits up. So I tend to put it all into one, when I feel there's something to say. Anyway, enough of that. I've finished my work on THUNDERBIRDS, which was fun. The film is directed by Jonathan Frakes, of Star Trek fame, and he was a pleasure to work with. Because of contractual reasons, I can't really say much more than that, except that when it is released, it will be one of the major films of the year. I've been sent the fourth series of MY HERO on videotape, and it looks great. Again, because of copyright, I won't be able to put any photos up until the series is transmitted, which is almost certain not to be until August. I also don't want to spoil it for anyone. There is talk of a fifth series next year, but that has still to be decided. Other than that, things are quiet at the moment, so I think another visit to the U.S. is probably on the cards for now. I will post another update when I have more news to tell you. Thank you for your emails. I've put a link for you to mail on the bottom of every page now, or you can sign my guestbook.

  ******************************************

February 24, 2003 - The fourth series of MY HERO is now finished. We recorded our final episode last Friday, and a fine time was had by all at the wrap party. It's always a little sad to see it come to an end, but I think we're all looking forward to a short break. From what I could gather, the series will not be transmitted until August. When I have the exact dates, I will post them here. I will soon go to the U.S. to see my family, and when I return, I will do a small part in the feature film of THUNDERBIRDS, which should be fun. More about that soon.

December 31, 2002 - Firstly, may I say to everyone who visits this site, a very Happy New Year. May the coming year bring you health and happiness. Thank you all for your kind emails and comments in my guestbook. They are very much appreciated. I love reading the guestbook, and you don't have to put your return address if you choose not to. It's just nice to know you're out there.
We are currently on our Christmas break from MY HERO. Four new episodes have now been recorded, with a further six to come in the new year. The break has given me time to do a little work on the site, and there are a slew of new photos on my Personal Pics page, mainly from my visit to Miami last summer. More to come soon. So until next year...

******************************************

November 12, 2002 - Work has now begun on the fourth series of MY HERO. We began filming the exterior scenes yesterday, and it was good to be back. Rehearsals for the first episode will begin November 22, and the first studio recording is November 29. After much work (and much laziness),  I've also put a second TV and FILM page on the site. There are lots of photos of past productions, and may take a long time to load, so please be patient. As always, please feel free to email me, or sign my guestbook if you have a comment. I really enjoy hearing from you.

******************************************

September 17, 2002 - The fourth series of MY HERO will begin filming on or about November 10. The first studio recording will be November 29. As of this date, there will be ten new episodes, but that may be increased to thirteen. Subsequent recording dates are December 6, 13, and 20th, 2002, and January 10, 17, 31, February 7, 14, 21, 2003. All inquiries for tickets to see a recording should be made to the BBC. Please note that these dates may be subject to change.

                                                                                                                ******************************************

September 6, 2002 - Finally! A new MY HERO page up today. After months of procrastination, I've got at least one page done. I hope you enjoy the photos. There are more photos from other shows and some new personal pics from my trip to Miami to come. Let me know what you think. I'd really appreciate some feedback. Sign the guestbook, or send me an email. I'm off to Scotland soon to do some filming on a three part television play called THE KEY. It's not much, but it will fill in the time before we start the fourth series. Did a radio commercial this week too. The first one for ages. It was nice to get back into a recording studio. More soon.

                                                                                                                ******************************************

August 10, 2002 - Just returned from my trip to the U.S. Well, actually it was yesterday, but I was too tired to turn the computer on, let alone write anything. I had a fantastic time. The trip to Miami was brilliant. Seeing all my friends from my University of Miami days again was a memory I will treasure for a long time. I'm awaiting pictures from them, and will put them on the site as soon as I get them. I have alot of work to do on the site, and will start very soon. Still no news on the start date for the fourth series of MY HERO, but as soon as I know, I will post it here.

                                                                                                               ******************************************

July 11, 2002 - Yet again I've been incredibly lax in not updating this page, or the site for that matter. I can't seem to get motivated to do it. Apologies abound to those of you who are looking for news. To be honest, there hasn't been much recently. I've turned down a couple of plays in the last month or so. I just didn't find them interesting enough. The BBC has still to decide how many episodes of MY HERO will be made for the fourth series. It will be either ten or thirteen, and we will begin filming in the autumn. So as I am unemployed by choice, I've decided to go to the U.S. to visit my family again. The trip is actually twofold. I will also go to Miami for a memorial service for my University of Miami professor Robert "Buckets" Lowery, who passed away in May. I'm honored to be asked to attend. I owe a great debt to him. I don't think I'd still be in this business if it wasn't for what he taught me. On a lighter note, I will also get to see friends from my Miami days that I haven't seen for a very long time. I'm really looking forward to that. I will update this page, AND the site when I return.

                                                                                                               *****************************************

May 31, 2002 - Laziness has again taken over. Many apologies for leaving an update for so long. For my sins, I've been in Bulgaria again doing a bit on another film. This one is called MARINES, and is supposed to get an airing on HBO. I won't hold my breath, but I'll reserve judgement. On a more upbeat note, the third series of MY HERO will begin to air next Friday, June 7, 2002, at 8:30PM on BBC 1. There are ten new episodes. Drop me a line and let me know what you think, or sign my guestbook. Still working on my new site pages. It's a tedious process going through all my old tapes to find suitable photos. I hope to have something up very soon. I just don't want to put a page up that is only half done. As soon as the pages are ready, I will upload them and post it here.

                                                                                                              *****************************************

April 25, 2002 - Great news! I heard late last night that the BBC has given the go-ahead for the fourth series of MY HERO. The number of episodes hasn't been worked out yet, but production should begin in the autumn, as we did last year. The third series is, I believe, scheduled for transmission in June. As soon as I know the exact date and time, I will post it here. I'm very pleased, to say the least. More news very soon.

                                                                                                              ****************************************

April 3, 2002 - Wonder of wonders! Two updates in one week! I've now upgraded my operating system, and am running Windows XP. All went reasonably smoothly, except for a few minor glitches. I was running ME before, and hated it. So far I haven't had one crash, which is unusual for me. Thank you Philip, for all your help. All my toys and software are now installed, so now I can get down to the business of adding to the site. I have a little time before I do a radio play for BBC Radio 4. The play is called "I Decided To Kill My Brother After Dinner". Looks like it should be good fun. No other news on anything else for the moment. When my new site pages are ready, I will post it here.

                                                                                                             ****************************************

March 29, 2002 - Just returned from my visit with my family. It was good to get home after being away for seven months. I wasn't able to access my site over there, and this is the first chance I've had to update this page. There are a few things brewing on the work front, but nothing concrete at the moment. Our MY HERO producers are going into talks with the BBC soon about the possibility of a fourth series. As soon as I have news about that, and the transmission date for series three, it will go here. I'm upgrading the operating system on my computer tomorrow, which is a bit scary. A lot of backing up to do today to make sure I don't lose anything. Wish me luck.

                                                                                                             ****************************************

February 21, 2002 - The third series of MY HERO is now finished. There is no transmission date as yet, but as soon as I know, I will post it here. The BBC has asked our producers to deliver the series earlier than planned, so it could be aired as early as April. I will try to do a little work on the site before I go off to the U.S. to visit my family.

                                                                                                            ****************************************

February 10, 2002 - A few more photos for my TV and FILM, and MY HERO pages have been put on the site. If these pages are taking too long to download, please let me know. I will set up a second page for both soon. For those of you in the U.K., the second series of MY HERO is being repeated on Saturday evenings at 5:30 PM. We are in the last week and a half of Series 3 filming. Two more episodes to do. I will be sad to see it end. It's been a lot of fun.

                                                                                                           ****************************************

January 12, 2002 - Many apologies to anyone who had been trying to access my site earlier this week. My domain host decided to move their servers without telling me, and as a consequence the site was down for most of the week. All seems to be back to normal now. Pretty busy at work this week, but I will try to get some more on the site soon.

                                                                                                         *****************************************

January 1, 2002 - A Happy New Year to all! Work starts again on January 3rd for the third series of MY HERO. I've been able to get a few more photos on the site on my SKELETONS page and my TV and FILM page. There are many more to come, now that I can capture off my old video tapes. I may have to set up a secondary page so it won't take too long for the pages to load, but I just don't have the time to do it right now. So please be patient when you go to those pages. More soon.

                                                                                                        *****************************************

December 22, 2001 - We've now finished the first four episodes of the third series of MY HERO, and are on our Christmas break. Six more to do in the New Year. My video capture equipment is working now, so more photos soon. Lots of old tapes to go through. My family are visiting me for a week, so I won't get any work done while they are here. I'll try to get some new photos up before I start back to work, and will update this page when I do.

                                                                                                       ******************************************

November 19, 2001 - Well, if all goes according to plan, today is the day my newly jazzed up site goes online. A lot of hard work has gone into it, both from myself and Shirley Ann Cowden. Many thanks to her. I'm pleased with the way it's turned out. I'm sure there will be more to do down the road, but I wanted to get the site online before I start rehearsal for the third series of MY HERO, which begins in two days. We are doing ten new episodes this time around, and I'm looking forward to it. I've just bought some video capture hardware, and as soon as I have the time to learn how to use it, I will be able to put more photos of my old television work on the site, and hopefully a few clips too. Once we start rehearsal, my time to do this will be limited, but I will do my best to post another update soon.

                                                                                                       ******************************************

June 16, 2001 - Lots of news today! HOORAY!!! The BBC have finally asked for a third series of MY HERO. Tentative date for the start of filming is the end of October. More soon on that. I'm also about to open in a play at Nottingham Playhouse. It's a children's play, written by Alan Ayckbourn entitled "THE BOY WHO FELL INTO A BOOK". Great play. Never done a children's play before. I then start rehearsal in mid-August to do David Mamet's "GLENGARRY, GLENROSS", at the Lyceum Theatre in Edinburgh. I'm absolutely thrilled.

******************************************

May 15, 2001 - I can't believe it's been so long since I've updated this page. There really is no excuse. I've just been very lazy. My apologies for being so remiss. Anyway, after an agonizingly long wait, the second series of MY HERO began airing last night. It should have aired months ago, but the BBC in it's wisdom (Ha Ha), chose to hold it back until now. It will go out on Monday evenings at 8:30 on BBC1. As we are out of contract, we now have to wait and see how it does in the ratings. If it does well, we hope the BBC will commission a third series. Another update soon, I hope.

          ********************************************

August 21, 2000 - First day back on MY HERO for me today. It was good to be going back to work on something I enjoy so much. I won't keep a daily journal. That would be too boring. If anything interesting happens, I'll post it here.

          *********************************************

August 15, 2000 - Second read-through for MY HERO today. We are doing a Christmas episode, and six others. All good scripts - very funny. Filming begins August 20th.

          *********************************************

July 17, 2000 - MY HERO will begin filming on or about August 19th. First studio date will be September 1, 2000. There will be seven new episodes. More soon.

          **********************************************

April 1, 2000 - Just returned from Bulgaria. DEFINITELY one for the Skeletons page. No news yet on the start date for the second series of MY HERO, or the number of episodes. Waiting for the BBC to decide. Keep watching this space.

          ************************************************

February 25, 2000 - Going to Bulgaria next month to begin a film entitled DEATH, DECEIT & DESTINY ABOARD THE ORIENT EXPRESS. I think this one will end up on my Skeletons page if I ever get it done!

          ************************************************

FLASH: February 14, 2000 - The BBC Has Commissioned The Second Series Of MY HERO - Filming To Begin In The Summer!

For those of you in the UK, and my friends in the US who unfortunately won't get to see it, MY HERO will begin to air on Friday, February 4, 2000 at 8:30pm. I AM EXCITED!!!!!

I have also just completed working on an episode in another upcoming BBC comedy called TOO MUCH SUN., Starring Mark Addy (FULL MONTY) , Alex Jennings, and would you believe it... LEE MAJORS! Air date is tentatively scheduled for March 2000. I will update this as and when I have more info.
